Albert Pecora, Ph.D.   Albert's resume.

Albert is the son of Sandra J. and Dr. Albert M. Pecora, Jr.  He grew up in rural Huron County, Ohio and graduated from St. Paul High School in Norwalk.  As a teenager, Pecora spent much of his time hunting, trapping, and fishing with his father.  Instead of seeking a job as a teenager, Pecora earned much of his college tuition by growing beef cattle on the small Pecora Family farm.  He sold beef by the whole, side, and quarter to customers in the Lorain and Huron County area.  The beef operation was the learning experience that led to Pecora’s dream to own his own business.

Albert established Ohio Valley Archaeological Consultants (Ohio Valley Archaeology, Inc.) in 1998 and has nearly 20 years of professional experience in archaeology.  While an undergraduate student at The Ohio State University, Albert attended the 1987 archaeological fieldschool held at Flint Ridge Memorial Park in Licking County, under Dr. Richard Yerkes.  This experience spawned a profound interest in lithic technology that continues to this day.  In 1988 Pecora attended the Flintknapping Fieldschool directed by Dr. J. Jeffrey Flenniken in Stanley, Idaho.  From here he developed an understanding in lithic technology that eventually led to his Ph.D. dissertation research.

In keeping with his childhood dream, Albert established Ohio Valley Archaeological Consultants while enrolled in the Ph.D. program at The Ohio State University.  The initial purposes of the company were to gain access to archaeological data for his dissertation research and to prepare a future career by developing a professional cultural resource management firm.  This is not the traditional course followed by graduate students in Anthropology—but as his father would say, “my son beats to his own drummer.”

In 2002 Albert earned his doctoral degree in Anthropology, which is the parent discipline of Archaeology.

Today, Pecora is president of Ohio Valley Archaeological Consultants and oversees a staff of five professional archaeologists.

Under the direction of Pecora, Ohio Valley Archaeological Consultants (Ohio Valley Archaeology, Inc.) strives to provide the highest quality cultural resource management services possible.

Albert is married to Jennifer L. (DeGraaf) and they are expecting the birth of their first child, Avangeline Carmela Pecora, in October 2006.  In addition to looking forward to his new family, Albert enjoys gardening, tending his fig trees, and perfecting his cooking skills.  Hunting remains his passion.
